Clean-Up Bucket

      5 gallon bucket with resealable lid
5 scouring pads
7 sponges, assorted sizes
1 scrub brush
1 pkg. cleaning towels (18 reusable, like Easy Wipes®)
1 box dry laundry detergent, 50-78 oz.
1 liquid concentrated household cleaner (like Lysol®), 12 oz.
1 bottle liquid disinfectant dish soap (like Dawn®), 25 oz.
50 clothespins
Clothesline, two 50 ft. or one 100 ft.
5 dust masks
2 pair – latex gloves (like Playtex®)
1 pair – work gloves
1 – 24 count roll heavy-duty trash bags (33-45 gallon)
1 bottle insect repellant (drops or lotion, not aerosol), 6-14 oz.

PLEASE PURCHASE ALL LIQUIDS IN PLASTIC BOTTLES.  PUT ALL ITEMS IN THE PLASTIC BUCKET AND PACK SECURELY.  CALL THE MISSOURI RIVER VALLEY PRESBYTERY OFFICE TO COORDINATE A PICKUP OR DELIVERY.


MRV MISSION COMMITTEE HAS MINI-GRANT FUNDS AVAILABLE IN 2008:  Each year, mini grants (up to $2,000) are awarded by the Presbytery through the MRV Mission Committee. Churches should design a partially self-funded program or project.  The mini grants are for start-up expenses for programs that will be continued by the congregation.  (Application forms located under "Forms" - Mission & Mission Interpretation)

RACIAL ETHNIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The racial Ethnic Scholarship Fund is an educational assistance program designed to encourage Racial Ethnic students in their preparation for service in the Presbyterian Church USA.  Funds for this program are provided by the Synod of Lakes and Prairies Committee on Racial Ethnic Ministry.

Applicants must be:

1. Racial Ethnic students who live within the bounds of the Synod of Lakes and Prairies.
2. An active member in a PCUSA congregation.
3. Studying fo prepare for leadership in the PCUSA or in a related social service ecumenical organization.
4. Enrolled at least half-time and in good academic standing.
5. Making progress toward a degree.
6. Able to demonstrate financial need. 

Scholarship applications were sent to the churches in each presbytery in the Synod with racial ethnic constituents; to racial ethnic committees in each presbytery; and to presbytery offices.  In addition, pdf or Word versions of the scholarship form can be found on the synod website - www.lakesandprairies.org.  Completed applications can be mailed - Synod of Lakes and Prairies, 2115 Cliff Drive, Eagan MN 55122-3327, faxed - 657.357.1141, or emailed to Mary Taaffe - mtaaffe@lakesandprairies.org.  This must be done before September 30, 2008.

Great Plains Pilgrimage #4
The Great Plains Pilgrimage will take place September 4-7 at Camp Calvin Crest.  Beginning on Thursday evening and ending late Sunday afternoon.  Pilgrimage is a great way to experience God's grace and hospitality, find honest conversations about faith journey, have loads of laughter, and renew the spiritual life.  More information can be found at www.oasischurchministries.com/opilgrimage.htm.

OWLS 2-Day Event
Heads up!  OWLS will gather September 17-18.  OWLS (Older, Wiser, Livelier Saints) is an older-adult ministry conducted jointly by Homestead and Missouri River Valley presbyteries.  On September 17-18 the joint committee presents a mid-week two-day gathering at Camp Calvin Crest for seniors.  It is a joyful, helpful, relaxing event.  Some older adults attend every year.  The exact dates are not yet known, but it will be in mid-September.  Make plans to attend.  When you want more information phone either Brad Field (402-489-5676) or George Hooper (402-339-2602).
